The Cameroon Cultural and Digital Youth Summit 2024
The Cameroon Cultural and Digital Youth Summit (2CDYS) brings together young people to explore how culture and technology intersect, promoting digital innovation and tech skills. Organized by the non-profit Influence au Mboa—a group of local and diaspora Cameroonians—it’s part of a series of free events since 2022 focused on training, digital innovation, and cultural exchange in Cameroon.
After working on the 2022 and 2023 summits, I was honored to lead the visual communications for an even more ambitious third edition.
About the client
Influence au Mboa is a non-profit run by Cameroonians at home and in the diaspora. Its third Cameroon Cultural & Digital Youth Summit, under the patronage of the Ministry of Arts and Culture (MINAC) and the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education (MINJEC), ran over three days in Douala: on 9 November 2024 at the Annie Kadji Gallery in Bonapriso, then on 14 and 15 November 2024 at GECAM in Bonanjo. The theme was technology as a driver of growth for young people, culture and business.
What I designed
- The main announcement poster and its street-poster version
- One poster per panel: She Leads, Digital Shift, Next-Gen Brand and Culture 2.0
- Speaker visuals, such as the Fact-Checking session with Ken Kiunga and Behind the Lens with Dr Nkeng Stephens
- A flyer for the student Business Game, with a prize of 250,000 FCFA
- A sponsor backdrop, a roll-up banner and panellist badges
The design choices
The summit’s colours come straight from the Cameroonian flag: green, red and yellow. Each panel was given one dominant colour, so a reader scrolling through the campaign could tell the panels apart at a glance while every poster still belonged to the same family. The layout never changes: logo and patronage at the top, panel name in a bold banner, speakers in a row of portraits, theme, venue and date, then a QR code to support the event and the contact strip.
With more than a dozen pieces to deliver, that fixed grid was what made the campaign possible to produce on time and easy to recognise in a busy feed.
Where it works
The posters and panel visuals were made for social media in the weeks before the summit, and the backdrop, roll-up and badges for the venues during the three days. I had already worked on the 2022 and 2023 editions, and I later designed the Social Network Workshop campaign for the same organisation.
