This policy explains what personal information mersildesigns.com collects, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. The site is run by Mersil Nick Mikek (ETS Mersil Designs), a graphic designer and community manager based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. For any question about your data, write to contact@mersildesigns.com.
What I collect and why
When you contact me
The contact form asks for your name, email address, a subject and your message. The message is sent to my inbox by email so I can reply. The form itself does not keep a copy on the website.
When you fill in a questionnaire or enroll in a course
The branding, social media and website questionnaires and the Academy enrollment form ask for your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, and details about your business, your project or your learning goals. Your answers are stored in the website’s database so I can prepare a proposal or organize your course.
When you browse the site
Like most websites, the server records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, for security and to keep the site running. I also use two statistics tools to understand which pages are visited:
- Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit), which uses cookies to measure visits and how people use the site. Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Jetpack Stats by Automattic, which counts page views. Automattic’s privacy policy: automattic.com/privacy.
Jetpack and Akismet, also by Automattic, help protect the site against spam and malicious login attempts, which involves processing IP addresses.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses:
- Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics (for example
_ga), which show me how many people visit and which pages are useful. - Technical cookies needed for the site to work, such as the ones WordPress sets when an administrator logs in.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
Content from other services
Fonts are hosted on this site, so your browser does not connect to Google Fonts when a page opens. Links to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp take you to those services, which apply their own privacy policies once you are there.
Who your information is shared with
I do not sell or rent your personal information. It is only handled by the services that make the site work: my web host (Hostinger), my email provider, Google and Automattic, as described above. I may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long I keep it
Messages and questionnaire answers are kept for as long as they are useful for our exchange, your project or your course, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to me. You can ask me to delete them at any time. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of Google Analytics and Jetpack.
Your rights
You can ask me to show you the personal information I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Send your request to contact@mersildesigns.com and I will reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Security
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to its administration is restricted and protected. No online service can be completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 16. If you are younger, please ask a parent or guardian before sending me your details, including for a course enrollment.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy when the site or the tools it uses change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
