Whiskey Down Manchester
Whiskey Down Manchester is a sophisticated gentlemen’s retreat that combines luxury, entertainment, and a refined social experience. Designed to elevate the classic gentlemen’s club, it offers a unique blend of high-end ambiance, premium service, and exclusive entertainment. With dedicated spaces for those seeking a lively atmosphere as well as dancer-free areas for a more relaxed, late-night setting, it caters to a diverse clientele looking for an upscale experience.
I have had the pleasure of designing their sports nights flyers, contributing to the club’s dynamic visual identity.
About the client
Whiskey Down is a gentlemen’s club in Manchester, in the United Kingdom, that also runs sports nights. Big football matches and boxing fights are a key part of its calendar, and each one needs its own announcement.
What I designed
- “After Match Drinks at Whiskey Down” posters for Premier League and Champions League matches: Manchester United v Arsenal, Manchester City v Tottenham, City v Real Madrid, United v Leicester City, City v Fulham, City v Plymouth Argyle
- Boxing watch-party posters: Fury v Ngannou, Fury v Whyte, Joshua v Dubois, Joshua v Franklin
- Seasonal posters such as Bank Holiday Sunday
- Portrait 4:5 formats for Instagram and Facebook
The design choices
Each fixture gets its own treatment, built from the teams’ colours and the energy of the event: torn paper and club crests for the derbies, a gold and smoke palette for the heavyweight fights, a luxurious marble and crown for the bank holiday. Fans scroll past dozens of match graphics, so variety keeps each poster feeling like news rather than a template.
What stays constant is the information. The Whiskey Down monogram sits at the top, the date and opening hours are set in a bold block that can be read at thumbnail size, entry conditions are spelled out when they matter (“Free entry before 10pm”, “£20 entry including one free beer”), and the bookings email always closes the poster. A fan knows when to come, what it costs and how to book in a single glance.
Where it works
The posters are made for the venue’s social media in the days before each fixture, and I design them remotely from Cameroon.
