Mondo Mubany — Sugar Ba
“Sugar Ba” is a single by Mondo Mubany.
I designed the cover art and the matching trailer visual used to tease the release, keeping one treatment across both so the announcement and the drop feel like a single moment rather than two separate posts.
About the client
Mondo Mubany is an artist on Mubany Records Inc, and “Sugar Ba” is a single that also closes his EP MBEBWO as a bonus track. The release needed two pieces that work as one: a teaser to announce it and a cover for the day it drops.
What I designed
- The square cover art
- The release announcement visual, “Available on all streaming platforms”, with the platform icons
The design choices
Where MBEBWO is bright and earthy, Sugar Ba is a night song, so the palette turns to dark chocolate and bronze. The artist wears a studded black jacket that catches the light, and a thin cream ribbon loops around him, a soft, sweet line that echoes the title. “Sugar Ba” is set in a rounded retro serif in the same cream, with the artist’s name in bold white above it.
The announcement visual places the cover itself in the centre of a wider bronze frame, with “AVAILABLE” in a cream banner and a row of platform icons below. Because the teaser contains the exact cover, fans who see the announcement recognise the single instantly when it appears on their streaming app.
Where it works
The cover runs on the streaming platforms, and the announcement visual ran on the artist’s and the label’s social media around the release.
