About the client

CAPS, the Centre Africain d’Analyses Politiques et Stratégiques, is an independent think tank founded by Pr. Steeve Nzegho Dieko. It works on geopolitics, political science, public policy, the economy, law and the environment, and its audience is demanding: researchers, students, journalists and decision-makers who judge an institution by the seriousness of what it publishes.

What I designed

• The website design and the WordPress build, in French and English
• A home page under the line “Penser l’Afrique stratégique de demain”
• An About section with the founder’s message, the missions and the vision
• A Publications section for analyses and articles
• A Books section presenting the institution’s works, such as “Le syndrome d’Hubris dans les arènes politiques africaines” and “La ponérologie politique en Afrique contemporaine”
• A contact page and a mobile layout

The design choices

A think tank sells credibility, so the design steps back and lets the content speak. The palette is limited to blue and white, the menu is short (Accueil, À propos, Publications, Ouvrages, Contactez-nous) and the language switch sits at the top right of every page. The home page opens on full-width photos of African political life, then presents the institution, its missions and its latest publications.

The founder’s message is laid out like a printed letter, with his portrait and long, readable paragraphs, and the missions are shown as a grid of four icon cards. Each book is presented with its cover and a summary, so a researcher can cite it and a journalist can understand it in a minute.

Where it works

The site is live at caps-afrique.org, where CAPS publishes its work and presents its books and missions to readers across the continent.
